3 Steps to Beat Perfectionism
And Procrastination

Ever had an amazing idea—one that got you super excited—but never actually took the leap to make it happen? Trust me, you’re not alone. For me perfectionism sneaks up especially when I’m about to tackle something new or ambitious. You know the drill: endless research, organizing everything neatly, waiting until conditions feel “just right.” But honestly, this is just procrastination wearing a fancy disguise.
Though it’s still something I deal with regularly, I’ve found comfort in a simple truth and constantly remind myself that imperfect action is better than perfect inaction. Making small, good enough steps moves me forward!
What’s Holding You Back?

Reflect a bit on your past 6 to 12 months. How many of those amazing ideas or exciting plans did you actually put into action? Maybe you’ve been dreaming of launching a side hustle, traveling more, mastering social media, or even starting a blog. Yet, it always seems like something’s stopping you. Thoughts like:
- “I just don’t have enough time.”
- “My budget is too tight.”
- “Who am I to do this? I’m not an expert!”
- “I don’t feel inspired right now.”
- “If only I had an assistant or a babysitter…”
- “Where do I even begin?”
Sound familiar? These concerns might have merit, sure, but the truth is—there’s never going to be a perfect scenario. So, what’s next? Here are three practical and manageable ways you can beat procrastination and perfectionism, starting today.

Three Simple Ways to Finally Move Forward

1. Start Before You’re Ready
Forget waiting for the “perfect” moment—start exactly where you are. No assistant? Tight schedule? Limited funds? None of these should hold you back. You can’t move forward if you don’t start. Chances you’ve probably researched the hell out of your project and likely have the knowledge to get going. It’s the fear monster holding you back. But, jump in anyway. Take a leap of faith and trust yourself to learn along the way, and tweak things as needed. In 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, you’ll be happy you got started today.
2. Break It Down Into Mini Wins
Forget about a 5 year plan or massive, intimidating goals for now. Rather, focus on one big goal then break it down into weekly and daily chunks. That’s right, set small, simple and specific goals that are reachable. Want to start a blog? Start with one post per week, not three. Want to lose 20 pounds? Plan to workout once a week, not three. Mini goals make tasks more doable to achieve. And, this method builds confidence while fueling motivation and momentum to keep you going.
3. Find Your Partner-in-Progress
Ever noticed workouts feel easier, effortless and more enjoyable with a friend by your side? The same principle applies to your ambitions. Tell a friend what you’re working on. This should be someone that you really trust, someone who’s not afraid to give honest feedback. If they’re working on goals too, even better. Then check in regularly for feedback, support and gentle encouragement to help you stay on track.
